July Goals

Another late post, another weekend where I scramble to catch up on my blog posts.

But if I’ve learned one thing, its that I’m only human, and sometimes life gets in the way. I’m not going to blame myself, as I’ve had a very tough week. We’re currently moving house and I’m job hunting and doing a course, and its all just up in the air and I feel like a crazy person. Phew.

So anyway, in that context, here are my July goals.

Oh my god, could there actually be a more important goal for this month? I don’t think so. I’ve been up the walls and I’m badly in need of some TLC. So therefore, I plan to relax, take it easy and eat well; drink lots of water, eat lots of lovely food and pamper myself as much as possible. Also possibly more important, I must learn to say NO. If something is too much for me, historically, I would have panic attacks, and lately this has been happening again. That’s my cue for self-care and reeling it back in in my personal life.

My journal is a tool for self-care, so I plan to use this to set my weekly goals and keep track of how things are going in my life. I also plan to write my meal plan into this and keep track of how I’m doing on MyFitnessPal.

Bleh, what a boring goal. But this one is essential for me as I’ve had to cancel my gym membership (since I’ve moved and I’m trying to save money) and I need to keep fit in some way.

I am going to do this as part of my steps a day too. I’m only on week 2 of Couch25K so I need to up my game and get back into it. I now have a lovely riverside running track by my new house so I’m looking forward to it.

Yes that’s right, I’m going to take myself on a date. I’m going to plan at least one occasion each week where I do something fun by myself. If anyone has any ideas for this (that don’t cost the earth) let me know in the comments below please! So far, I’ve been thinking that I’ll take myself shopping (might be window shopping), I’m going to arrange a home spa date and watch my favourite old movies, and I’m going to go for coffee, bring a book and chill out.

Every day. I’m going to look at my Five Positive Affirmations I wrote back in December, as well as my favourite – “I’ll handle it.” I will use them by saying them to myself to replace negative thoughts. So whenever I think “I hate myself” or “My life is crap” I will replace these thoughts with positive affirmations. I need to practice doing this, as it obviously doesn’t come naturally to me. If you have any more suggestions for positive affirmations, again, let me know in the comments below.

So there are my July goals. As you can see, I’m taking it easy on myself and making sure I do things that help my anxiety, as it has been a very anxious time in my life over the last few weeks.

Thank you for reading.

  1. My goal is to practice self-care every Sunday! It’s honestly the only day that I have to myself. I have found that self-care really eases my anxiety. I don’t always pamper myself with self-care, sometimes I just do things because I want to do them. I actually do a self-care feature every Sunday if you want to check it out. Thanks for sharing your goals!

  2. Hi! Thanks for sharing! I love making lists! I’m such a planner and a post it user! I feel it’s a good idea to write down everything or Atleast most things so I don’t forget what I was thinking or what I was going to do. Keeps me from worrying about forgetting something. Life can get hectic at times. Taking time out is always nice, especially when stressed!

  3. These are all such great goals! Self care is always up the top of my list. I had a bit of a sleep in this morning which is something I NEVER do and I feel great for it so I guess that’s a form of self care! 🙂 xxx

  4. I don’t know what I’d do without my bullet journal with my to-do lists and habit trackers. Just started it a few weeks ago and I find it’s really helping. I’m actually doing a giveaway right now for a journal, but unfortunately it can only ship to the U.S.

  5. Self-care is very important and I love how you prioritized that as one of your goals. You deserve to treat yourself kindly and care for yourself. Ya gotta nourish to flourish 🙂 Best, Carly

  6. These are such lovely goals! When I think of ‘goals’ they usually include something related to growing my blog I’ve never thought of setting many like this! Good luck with couch25k I did it and was amazed at how much it helped my running, in this weather I haven’t got out much but need to get back to it! I’ve got a week off in July so want to set myself a goal of reading at least 3 books from my TBR! Can’t wait to hear about your running progress!

  7. I LOVE THIS POST! These are great goals to have. I love the idea of using the Couch25k program for your steps. I try to take myself out to breakfast every week. It doesn’t have to be pricey and I love a place with an outdoor patio to people watch. Or maybe a stroll through a park with beautiful scenery? I hope that you not only achieve your goals this month, but enjoy the process as well. I can’t wait to hear more about it.
