September Goals

And just like that, summer is over, and I’m back to work as a teacher. It must be September.

I’ve been busy getting everything ready to go back to work. I started working in a new school last week and its been great, but I have to give myself time to settle in. For me, this seems like the start of a new year, a new beginning, as its a new academic year, so this post will include some of my career goals also.

  1. GO TO THE GYM 3 TIMES A WEEK

I’ve recently joined a new gym since I’ve moved house. I’ve joined Gym Plus Cork. I have my first session with a trainer tomorrow. I plan to do one class and independent gym sessions a week. If I can do the gym at least 3 times a week it will help me to be more active and that will help me mentally to be fresher.

2. DO YOGA AT LEAST TWICE A WEEK

I use Yoga with Adriene’s Youtube videos, as you probably know if you’ve read any of my other blog posts. She currently has a September calendar with yoga challenges every day. You can get that here.

3. DO 30 DAY #MHCHALLENGE

You can see all the details of this mental health challenge here. If you want to join, don’t forget to post any photos with the hashtag #MHChallenge.

4. PLAN SOMETHING SOCIAL EVERY WEEK

As an out-an-out introvert, I find it way too easy to hide away and keep to myself. However, I want to challenge myself to be more outgoing, and to make an effort to arrange something social every week with a friend. Next weekend, I have a new friend’s 30th birthday party so that will be a good occasion.

5. PLAN MY MEALS AND KEEP TRACK OF WHAT I EAT IN MY FOOD DIARY

This is something I struggle with, to keep on track with my meals. However, generally I don’t want to be too focused on what I eat, as that has led to disordered eating for me in the past. Therefore, I plan to just eat normally, and eat real food. I want to also try to eat mindfully, giving myself time to eat until I’m full.

6. GIVE MYSELF ONE FULL DAY OFF A WEEK

I work every week day, but I also do a lot of work for school at the weekends. I’m going to try to limit that to just Sunday, so that I can really take my mind off work completely on a Saturday.
